Christen Pears - West Cornwall
Last September I spent a few days In western Cornwall at the home of Christen Pears, pilates instructor and holiday cottage owner with an extraordinary eye for combining mid century furniture with traditional cornish stone. Around a fire pit and homemade burgers we talked about the joys and pitfalls of returning to England after many years abroad, to set up roots and create a business in an old farmhouse and it's surrounding buildings. From the practical and beautiful scullery, the plant filled conservatory to the corner spot filled with penguin paperbacks, the house is designed with Christen's favourite things in mind - cooking and preserving, growing, reading and entertaining.
